Toward the Future

I’m reading through Theilhard de Chardin’s book Toward the Future. I wasn’t expecting to get much out of it, to tell the truth, but I am. I hope to make a few post on my gleanings. Here’s a quote from the end of his chapter, The Evolution of Chastity:

The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides, gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And, on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.
