Back in France
Sanan and I have taken a little time away from this blog to transition back to France. We are once again enjoying warm baguettes from the boulangerie and fresh cheese from the marché. We now live in the quaint little town of Brive-la-Gaillarde, in a 3rd floor loft-type apartment overlooking the center square and old church. The building itself dates from the early 1700s but our stone stairwell was part of the medieval ramparts of the city.
Pray Like a Gourmet is now being translated into French and is targeted for publication at the end of 2016.
We’ve been truly touched by the many reviews, emails, text messages and personal words from many of you with your thoughts on the book.
Below are some pictures from our apartment windows and other scenes from around the city of Brive-la-Gaillarde. Yes, we are definitely back in France.
Glad to hear that you are settled back in. Here’s an idea. When I lived in Hong Kong, on BBC World Service radio, each week Alastair Cooke did his “Letter from America” (no, not Alastair Cook the crickteer, but the late Alastair Cooke of Masterpiece Theater fame). It would be great to have a “Letter from France” on your blog each week for us Americans interested in France and other things European. Maybe not within the plans for your blog, but it’s just a thought.
Great idea Charlie! I may not be able to pull it off every week but I could start a “periodic” series. It is good to have this kind of feed back because i’m often unaware of how much people would want to hear about this sort of thing. Thanks for the idea!
