Arcade Fire Unites my Life
I’ve just watched the live stream of the new Arcade Fire album – Reflektor. In a weird way, it unites the loose ends of my life:
- Arcade Fire hails from Montreal, where I lived for 10 years
- The album plays to a stream from the classic 1959 Brazilian film, Black Orpheus based in Rio, where I also lived for 10 years
- Several songs include a refrain in French, as well as a song about Joan of Arc – I’m now living in France
- There are some very provocative and enigmatic spiritual lyrics in this album which fascinate me (based on the Orpheus story and The Present Age by Kierkegaard)
I love it when art like this makes me feel somewhat normal. Enjoy the full album below.
