Although it was conceived to encourage young writers to write, this old writer wants to accept their challenge this year.
You see, I’ve had a middle grade kid’s novel brewing in my head for about 15 years. Recently I turned up the heat by tweaking the plot, fleshing out character profiles and developing back stories but now it feels like it’s time to pour it out.
I’m going to give myself the grace to extend my deadline until Christmas; when I hope to give my grandsons at least the first draft.
So wish me luck! Feel free to drop in occasionally to check on my progress. I’ll drop a few hints along the way about the characters and plot twists, etc. I think it’s going to be a pretty fun read.
